Select Technical Support from the help menu to access the technical support dialog.
This is the easiest way to contact us and to make sure you include all the necessary files.
➢Before you can send a message for the first time, you will need to setup your email parameters.
A good rule to follow is to launch the technical support module as soon as possible after you encounter a problem, while the problem script is still open.
The left part of the dialog contains all the standard email fields: TO, CC, Subject and Message Body.
➢The message field contains the name of the script that was currently open when you invoked the technical support.
Checking those 2 checkboxes will attach files to your email that ensures that technical support is able to reproduce the problematic script exactly, without the need for you to explain all the various settings you are using.
Also attach these files
If you wish, you can also attach additional files to your email, using the Also attach these files panel. This is usually used to attach screenshots that supplement the email you are sending or PDFs of last year's model.
➢Remember that all the QuarkXPress files related to your script are automatically attached to your email; you do not need to place them here.
Send only the essential files
The Send only the essential files option was added in the late 1990s, when the internet was much slower, to reduce the number and size of files attached to your emails, by skipping files that are rarely needed for technical support. Nowadays. this option is un-checked by default and should be left un-checked unless your technical support emails are too large to be sent successfully.
Email or Save
When you are done, you can have the email and attachments sent by clicking on the Email button or, if you are not able to setup your email parameters, you can click on the Save button and then send the generated files using your own usual email client.
