Black does not appear in the list of scanned colors
• Make sure that the color Black has not been deleted from the QuarkXPress file that was scanned. In principle this is impossible, but we have seen examples of QuarkXPress files where the Black color had been deleted (probably using a 3rd-party xtension). If this is the case, then make a clean copy of the GridTemplate and use that copy from now on.
•If the color Black does not appear in the list of scanned colors, but the color Registration does, and it is the same as black, then make sure that you are using version 9867 or later of Q++Studio. To determine the version information that you are currently using, use the Help/System Information menu to display the system information dialog. The version information is located on the About tab of that dialog. If you are not using version 9867 or later of Q++Studio, then you should download and apply a more recent update. After you have updated Q++Studio, you will still need to rescan once any GridTemplate for which this issue arises.
•If you are using QuarkXPress Passport with the user interface set to be displayed in a language other than English, then the name of the registration color will most likely be different than "registration". Use the Name of "Registration" in non-English language option in the Data Preferences to tell Q++Studio that colors with that name should not be used instead of Black. After you have made this change, you will still need to rescan once any GridTemplate for which this issue arises
•Finally, if your QuarkXPress file contains a color which is an exact copy of Black (but not registration), then Q++Studio will always select that copied color in preference to Black, based on the assumption that if you went through the trouble of creating a copy of Black with your own name, then that is most likely the Black you want to use. If that is not the case, then simply delete that copy of Black from the QuarkXPress file (use the Edit menu and then the Colors menu item, select the color to delete, click on Delete and then, when asked, specify which color to use for objects that were using the color you are about to delete).
