Cannot create new color

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

When QuarkXPress is instructed to use a color that does not exists in any of the current script's GridTemplates, it then tries to create a new color in a manner similar to the way you do it in QuarkXPress (see below).

If it fails to create a new color, then this message is sent from QuarkXPress to Q++. To prevent this from happening, you should always use Template Colors, rather than specific colors when setting properties such as Macro Rules, Minical Options, and particularly when defining data such as holidays, slogans and SARAs.

If the color you are trying to use looks like it is in your GridTemplate, then it is possible that the QuarkXPress file has become corrupted and that the colors have become "dirty" (this has happened in the past). If this is the case you should make a clean copy of this QuarkXPress file, a procedure which will leave you with an uncorrupted file.

Also make sude that in Preferences, you have set the Color Matching setting to RGB.
