Designing GridTemplates for Maximum Re-Use

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The key to designing GridTemplates which can be reused, is to use small logical building block (a bit like a Lego set). Resist the temptation to have large page-sized textboxes. Distinct days should be in distinct textboxes.

Avoid choosing the capitalization of tokens based on the specifics of a given language. For example, in German the first letter of all weekdays is always capitalized. It is always better to capitalize the token translation (ie. Tuesday) rather than the token used [Dddd] because it allows you to use the same GridTemplate for other languages where the first letter is not necessarily capitalized.

Finally, make sure you re-read The Basic Rules of GridTemplate Design.
