Cannot find RGB Color, using Magenta !

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

This message occurs, during diary generation, if the current script calls for the setting of a color, specified by its RGB components.

Prior to 2007, CMYK color-matching was the default internal, as well as external, method of having Quark identify a pCode requested color in the output file color database. Then, from late 2007 to late 2014, RGB color-matching was the default internal, as well as external, method of having Quark identify a pCode requested color in the output file color database. This was more accurate than CMYK color-matching, but could still fail if the QuarkXPress Color Profiles were different in the copy of QuarkXPress used to scan the grid as compared to that used to generate the diary.

Therefore, since the end of 2014, color-matching by name is the default, and neither CMYK nor RGB color-matching is used internally, and the only way this message can occur, is if one of the current script's macros is using the function FormatText with either the cmyk() or rgb() color definition.

To avoid this problem, always make sure that in Preferences, and in Diary Generation Options, you have set the Color Matching setting to Color Name.
