Orthodox Tokens Date Tokens

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Q++ can calculate dates of the Orthodox Calendar for the range of years 1930 to February 28th 2100, inclusively. The lower bound of 1930 corresponds to the date when the last country using the Orthodox calendar effected a conversion to recoup the lag accumulated over the centuries due to the counting of every year divisible by 4 as a leap year.

Since the Gregorian and Orthodox calendars have the exact same structure apart from a current 13 day lag, all the tokens you regularly use can also be used for the Orthodox calendar, using the prefix "o".

[od]

[odd]

Shows the Orthodox day (1-30 and 01-30) of the Jewish month and correspond to [d] and [dd].

[om]

[omm]

Shows the Orthodox month number (1-12 and 01-12) and correspond to [m] and [mm].

[ommm]

[oMmm]

[oMMM]

Shows the short form of the Orthodox month name and correspond to [mmm], [Mmm] and [MMM].

[ommmm]

[oMmmm]

[oMMMM]

Shows the full Orthodox month name and correspond to [mmmm], [Mmmm] and [MMMM].

[oYY]

[oYYYY]

Shows the Orthodox year number and correspond to [yy] and [yyyy].

The prefix "s" can be used to conditionally show the Orthodox day or month tokens.

Note that weekdays are the same and occur on the same time in both the Orthodox and Gregorian calendars; that is why both Easters often fall on the same date, and when they do differ, they differ by 7-14 or 21 days. So the tokens [ddd], [dddd], [Dd], [sw] and in general any token related to the weekday, will give the same result for calculations using either the Gregorian or Orthodox calendar. There is therefore no need to define translations for the tokens [oddd], [ommm], [odddd] and [ommmm] in the Tokens Manager, since they use the same translation as the Gregorian calendar.

Note that Q++ also automatically calculates holidays based on the Orthodox Calendar.
