Property of the ScriptLine : Post-Processing.

In the Unicode version of Q++ Studio, this property is one of the options of the Generation Options property.

As most QuarkXPress users know, QuarkXPress is incredibly slow in saving files over a network. A file that can be copied with the Windows Explorer in less than 5 seconds, will require almost a minute to be saved by QuarkXPress. For Q++ this means that usually, for diaries of over 100 pages, it is much faster to have QuarkXPress save an output file locally, and then use Windows to move the file to a network location, than to let QuarkXPress save the output file directly to a remote location.

This property is used to specify which method Q++ should use, after generating a diary, to save the output file to a network location as specified by the Output Filename property(this property has no effect if the location specified is local).

This property has 3 possible values :

Best Method

recommended unless

you have a problem

Lets Q++ choose the bbest method to use to move the generated output file from the local temporary directory to the location specified by the Output Filename property.

Windows Shell

Using this setting forces Q++ to use the Windows Shell to move the generated output file from the local temporary directory to the location specified by the Output Filename property. This is usually the setting chosen by Q++ if you use the above Best Method value.

QuarkXPress

only needed for some

Quark 6 problems

Using this setting forces Q++ to use QuarkXPress to move the generated output file from the local temporary directory to the location specified by the Output Filename property. Generally this is not a good choice if the output filename location is on a network drive, as QuarkXPress will require 10 to 20 more time to save a file to a network location than Windows will require. However, in some cases, using this option solves some timing issues that cause QuarkXPress 6 (not the previous versions) to become unstable. This option should be selected only after consulting with technical support.

The default value is Best Method, and that value should only be changed if you encounter a problem, such as QuarkXPress crashing after generating the diary correctly (you can tell because the output file can be found in c:\temp\qpp\tmpopf\) but before closing down.
