Installation of a Q++ Server (UNICODE version)

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Follow the instructions below to install a Q++ UNICODE Server:

1)Make sure that the computer meets the Configuration Requirements.

oIf you plan to also install a Q++ Workstation on this PC (ie. a standalone installation of Q++ Studio on one single PC), then download the Q++Users.exe file, then copy it to your desktop, then double-click on it, and finally send the Q++Users.ini file thus generated to Q++ technical support. Wait until you receive license files from Technical support before proceeding to step 2.

oIf you do not plan to install a Q++ Workstation on this PC (ie. multiple Q++ Workstations will connect over a network to the server on this PC), then make sure that the entire C:\ drive is shared.

2)If you do not have a copy of the latest Q++ Server Installation Program, start downloading it now (it is about  115 MB in size) and continue with the next steps while the installation programs is being downloaded.

3)If this is a new server installation, then download the Q++ Ephemeris Database Installer (it is about 170 MB) and make sure that it is in the same location as the Q++ Server Installation Program that you downloaded in the previous step.

4)If this is a server re-Installation, then you should now restore the entire C:\Q++ Server\ folder and sub-folders, from the latest available backup (if these were backed-up to a CD or DVD, make sure that the entire C:\Q++ Server\ folder is not read-only).

5)When the downloads initiated in steps 2 and 3 are complete, launch the program Q++ServerSetup_UNICODE.EXE, and accept all the default options proposed to you (if you encounter any error or warning messages, please see the section on Server Installation Messages).

6)Remove any CDs or DVDs from the computer, and restart Windows.
