The MiniCal has only 5 Weeks minicalendar options is used to specify what to do with the days 30 and 31 which may belong the the 6th week of a MiniCalendar, if the minicalendar of your GridTemplate only contains 5 rows or columns.

There available solutions are:

•Use Fractions: days 30 and 31 are combined with the days 23 and 24 in the form of a fraction, such as 23/30 and 24/31.

•Wrap to Top: days 30 and 31 are moved to the top-left of the MiniCalendar.

•Display 1 and 2 on Top: days 1 and 2 are moved above the first row.

These various options, and their advantages and disadvantages, are discussed below.

Use Fractions (simple solution)

The Qpp2 font contains the combo numbers 23/30 and 24/31 in 3 different styles:

•Times

•Arial

•Courier

These correspond, respectively, to the general typographic families of serifed, sans-serif and fixed-space. Use this option to choose between these 3 typographies.

While these 3 choices are somewhat limited, remember that the font size used for most MiniCalendars dates is around 4 points.

Therefore the equivalent font size that would be used by each date in a 23/30 or 24/31 combo date would be 2 or 3 points, a size for which the difference between, for example, Times New Roman and Garamond, is hardly noticeable.

In the Qpp2 font, the top number (23 or 24) is independent from the bottom number (30 or 31). This makes it possible to display different attributes (for example color on holidays) for the top and bottom numbers. If you cannot find the QPP2 font on your system, you can install it from the Q:\Q++ServerXE3\Setup\Fonts\ folder.

Use Fractions (Xtags)

If you need to display specific text formatted specifically for the combined 23/30 and 24/31 dates, then you can select the Use Xtags option and click on the 23/30 and 24/31 buttons that appear on the right to enter the xtags text to use for each of these 2 combined dates.

Wrap to Top

Using the Wrap to Top option, if the 30th and/or 31st of the month fall on a 6th week, they are brought back to the first row of the MiniCalendar. Note that the to Top in this option name is a bit of a misnomer, since it will also work for vertical and right-to-left MiniCalendars.

To distinguish these occurrences of 30 and/or 31 from other dates on the first row of the MiniCalendar, you can choose to apply different font attributes to these dates using the ButtonEdit to the right of this option. The examples show the effect of displaying these dates in a lighter shade, or different color.

Display 1 and 2 on top row

Another way of displaying months that contain 6 partial weeks, using only 5 rows, is to move the days 1 and 2 above the first row as shown in the example on the right.

This type of MiniCalendars, common in Spain, is produced using a :Top12 minicalendar modifier and the present MiniCal has only 5 Weeks option should be turned off (that is to say, these cases are in fact treated as 6 row MiniCalendars).
