Expression must be assigned to a variable

Scroll Prev Up Next More

This compiler error will occur if a macro contains an instruction that is made up of an expression whose resulting value is not assigned to a variable.

begin
    YearOf(n_TokenDate) // what do we do with this ?
    365 mod 30 // what do we do with this ?
end

This error is usually the result of a cut and paste that was never completed.

To use the returned value, assign it to a variable. For example:

nYear = YearOf(n_TokenDate)
nRemainder = 365 mod 30

A standalone call to a function that returns no value is allowed; there is no returned value to assign.
