Scroll Prev Up Next More

To install an XV4 Server at a site where Q++Studio was never used:

1)Make sure that the computer on which you install the Server meets all the configuration requirements.

a.To allow technical support to assist you, if needed, please install TeamViewer exactly as described here, using the download links of that page. Please always install the Q++Studio bespoke version of TeamViewer as described here or we will not be able to assist you remotely.

2)Download the file XV4 server installation files.

3)Open the file XV4_Setup.zip which was downloaded in the previous step, and extract the Q++ServerXV4 folder to the D:\ drive.

4)Add the program D:\Q++ServerXV4\Q++Server64.exe to the list of applications which automatically start with Windows.

5)Install the Everything file indexer on the server, as described here.

6)Start the application server (this will automatically start the database server).

7)Load the database settings file nxServer4.nxdbworksettings.init_D which is located in the folder D:\Q++ServerXV4\DbEngine\.

8)Change the database alias DATA to the folder D:\Q++ServerXV4\Database\.

9)Before closing-down the database server's UI window, note the IP address of the database server.

10)On each of the workstations, open the file C:\Qpp\Qpp.ini, locate the line beginning with ServerName_XV4= and change it to ServerName_XV4=ALTEREGO_XV4@X.X.X.X, where X.X.X.X corresponds to the IP address you noted in the previous step (if no such line exists, add it just below the line [Q++]).

You should now be able to launch Q++Studio from any of the workstations.

If, at any stage, you encounter any difficulties, contact technical support so that they may connect via TeamViewer.
