Installing an additional XV4 workstation

Scroll Prev Up Next More

The instructions of this page apply to the usual XV4 configuration, where Q++Studio runs on a server PC to which one or more workstations are connected.

Below are the steps to follow to install the XV4 version of Q++Studio on a workstation on which Q++Studio was never installed (but at a site where at least one other workstation is already running the XV4 version of Q++Studio).

1)Make sure that the workstation meets the workstation configuration requirements. In particular:

a.Create a network drive Q:\ which maps directly to the D:\ drive of the Q++Studio Server.

b.Make sure that your Windows user account has full read/write access to all the folders of the table at the top of the anti-virus and firewall settings page.

2)To allow Q++Studio technical support to assist you, install the bespoke version of TeamViewer.

3)Copy the entire folder C:\Q++StudioXV4\ from one of the workstations on which Q++Studio is installed and functioning properly, to the C:\ drive of the target workstation.

4)Copy the entire folder C:\Qpp\ from one of the workstations on which Q++Studio is installed and functioning properly, to the C:\ drive of the target workstation.

5)Click here if you plan to use QuarkXPress with Q++Studio

6)Click here if you plan to use InDesign with Q++Studio

7)Open the folder Q:\Q++ServerXV4\ and double-click on the program VC_redist_2015-2017-2019-2022.x64.exe, to install the Visual C++ run-time libraries needed for QuarkXPress version 2016-2024 as well as InDesign 2020-2024.

8)Open the folder Q:\Q++ServerXV4\ and double-click on the program Q++UsersXV4.exe. Wait for 20 seconds and then email the file Q++UsersXV4.ini, located in the same folder, to technical support.

9)Wait for an email from technical support, in response to the ini file you sent.

10)Once you have received an email from technical support, telling you that the license files have been updated, double-click on the program file

C:\Q++StudioXV4\Utilities\Q++StudioUpdaterXV4.exe

on this new PC. This will automatically download the updated license files and complete the installation.

11)Install all the fonts located in the folder Q:\Q++ServerXV4\Setup\Fonts\.

12)Launch Q++Studio normally.

13)Setup Q++Studio to use the version(s) of QuarkXPress and/or InDesign that you have installed above.

a.If you plan to use QuarkXPress with Q++Studio, follow the steps described here.

b.If you plan to use InDesign with Q++Studio, follow the steps described here.

If, at any stage, you encounter any difficulties, contact technical support so that they may connect via TeamViewer.
