This topic covers the implementation details of TBoxTextAttr.

Scope: TypeDefinitions.pas; record. Prepared from the curated implementation supplied for this review on 2 October 2026.

Groups text-in-box changes including insets, columns, vertical alignment and first-baseline settings. This is selected by a macro box action distinct from ordinary token text-formatting actions. Each substructure’s Enabled/modification switch gates its payload.

Notation and shared helper rules: Reading this reference.

XML identity and composition

Literal rec_type values emitted within these routines: TBoxTextAttr. Nested values may belong to child wrappers rather than this owner itself; the attribute entries below give their exact locations.

Exact XML fields and attributes

The paths below start at this record or property node. A slash identifies a child element; @ identifies an attribute. Curly braces mark a variable index or expression, not literal XML text. Initial values describe initialization; they do not establish what an omitted individual element does. The Implementation toggle below contains the supplied routines for exact branch order and conversions.

Columns/Enabled

XML representation: The text of the Enabled element.

Initial value: false (TBoxTextAttr.Initialize).

Reading: Reads the element into Columns.Enabled when the record node exists.

Writing: Stores true or false according to Columns.Enabled whenever the writer reaches this field.

Columns/Action

XML representation: The text of the Action element.

Initial value: cccSet (0) (TBoxTextAttr.Initialize).

Reading: Reads the element into Columns.Action when the record node exists; Columns.Enabled is true.

Writing: Stores the numeric value of Columns.Action (see the value table below) when Columns.Enabled is true.

Columns/Count

XML representation: The text of the Count element.

Initial value: 1 (TBoxTextAttr.Initialize).

Reading: Reads the element into Columns.Count when the record node exists; Columns.Enabled is true.

Writing: Stores the numeric value of Columns.Count when Columns.Enabled is true.

Columns/GutterEnabled

XML representation: The text of the GutterEnabled element.

Initial value: false (TBoxTextAttr.Initialize).

Reading: Reads the element into Columns.GutterEnabled when the record node exists; Columns.Enabled is true.

Writing: Stores true or false according to Columns.GutterEnabled when Columns.Enabled is true.

Columns/GutterWidth

XML representation: The text of the GutterWidth element.

Initial value: 0.0 (TBoxTextAttr.Initialize).

Reading: Reads the stored number, divides it by 1000000.0, and assigns the result to Columns.GutterWidth when the record node exists; Columns.Enabled is true. The temporary numeric value starts at 0 before reading.

Writing: Stores Columns.GutterWidth multiplied by 1000000, then rounded to an integer when Columns.Enabled is true.

Insets/Enabled

XML representation: The text of the Enabled element.

Initial value: false (TBoxTextAttr.Initialize).

Reading: Reads the element into Insets.Enabled when the record node exists.

Writing: Stores true or false according to Insets.Enabled whenever the writer reaches this field.

Insets/MultipleInsets

XML representation: The text of the MultipleInsets element.

Initial value: false (TBoxTextAttr.Initialize).

Reading: Reads the element into Insets.MultipleInsets when the record node exists; Insets.Enabled is true.

Writing: Stores true or false according to Insets.MultipleInsets when Insets.Enabled is true.

Insets/TopOrAllSides

XML representation: The text of the TopOrAllSides element.

Initial value: 0.0 (TBoxTextAttr.Initialize).

Reading: Reads the stored number, divides it by 1000000.0, and assigns the result to Insets.TopOrAllSides when the record node exists; Insets.Enabled is true. The temporary numeric value starts at 0 before reading.

Writing: Stores Insets.TopOrAllSides multiplied by 1000000, then rounded to an integer when Insets.Enabled is true.

Insets/Left

XML representation: The text of the Left element.

Initial value: 0.0 (TBoxTextAttr.Initialize).

Reading: Reads the stored number, divides it by 1000000.0, and assigns the result to Insets.Left when the record node exists; Insets.Enabled is true. The temporary numeric value starts at 0 before reading.

Writing: Stores Insets.Left multiplied by 1000000, then rounded to an integer when Insets.Enabled is true.

Insets/Bottom

XML representation: The text of the Bottom element.

Initial value: 0.0 (TBoxTextAttr.Initialize).

Reading: Reads the stored number, divides it by 1000000.0, and assigns the result to Insets.Bottom when the record node exists; Insets.Enabled is true. The temporary numeric value starts at 0 before reading.

Writing: Stores Insets.Bottom multiplied by 1000000, then rounded to an integer when Insets.Enabled is true.

Insets/Right

XML representation: The text of the Right element.

Initial value: 0.0 (TBoxTextAttr.Initialize).

Reading: Reads the stored number, divides it by 1000000.0, and assigns the result to Insets.Right when the record node exists; Insets.Enabled is true. The temporary numeric value starts at 0 before reading.

Writing: Stores Insets.Right multiplied by 1000000, then rounded to an integer when Insets.Enabled is true.

VertAlign/Enabled

XML representation: The text of the Enabled element.

Initial value: false (TBoxTextAttr.Initialize).

Reading: Reads the element into VertAlign.Enabled when the record node exists.

Writing: Stores true or false according to VertAlign.Enabled whenever the writer reaches this field.

VertAlign/Alignment

XML representation: The text of the Alignment element.

Initial value: vatTop (0) (TBoxTextAttr.Initialize).

Reading: Reads the element into VertAlign.Alignment when the record node exists; VertAlign.Enabled is true.

Writing: Stores the numeric value of VertAlign.Alignment (see the value table below) when VertAlign.Enabled is true.

VertAlign/InterParagMax

XML representation: The text of the InterParagMax element.

Initial value: 0.0 (TBoxTextAttr.Initialize).

Reading: Reads the stored number, divides it by 1000000.0, and assigns the result to VertAlign.InterParagMax when the record node exists; VertAlign.Enabled is true. The temporary numeric value starts at 0 before reading.

Writing: Stores VertAlign.InterParagMax multiplied by 1000000, then rounded to an integer when VertAlign.Enabled is true.

FirstBaseline/Enabled

XML representation: The text of the Enabled element.

Writing: Stores FirstBaseline.Offset multiplied by 1000000, then rounded to an integer when FirstBaseline.Enabled is true.

@rec_type

XML representation: The rec_type attribute.

Writing: Stores the literal text “TBoxTextAttr” whenever the writer reaches this field.

Value namespaces used by this implementation

These are declared Pascal ordinal values. Use the ordinal only where the field serializer actually writes ord(...), an integer cast or an equivalent value. Set-marker strings and local option lists have their own representation; sentinel members in an enum are not automatically legal XML choices.
