Governing Law: Official public holidays in Moldova are regulated by Article 111 of the Labour Code of the Republic of Moldova, Codul muncii al Republicii Moldova, (N 154-XV from 28.03.2003 and N 159-162, art.648, Official Monitor of the Republic of Moldova).
Bridge Public Holidays: The aforementioned Labour Code specifies, in Article 111, Section 5, that the Government has the right to transfer non-working days to other days (eg. if a public holiday falls on a Tuesday or Thursday).
Chisinau Day (Hramul Chisinaului) used to be celebrated on the first Saturday in October. However, beginning with 2001, this celebration became fixed and now it is always celebrated on October 14. |
