29 Apr 2010 (AKI Press-Bishkek) The Labor Ministry of Kyrgyzstan has announced the upcoming working and non-working days in connection with the May 2010 public holidays in Kyrgyzstan.
15 Feb 2010 (Kyrgyz National News Agency-KABAR) The government of Kyrgyzstan has declared Monday, February 22, 2010, as a one-off non-working bridge public holiday, to link the weekend with the annual, February 23, Homeland Defenders' Day public holiday.
11 Dec 2009 (News Agency AKIpress-Bishkek) The government of Kyrgyzstan has declared the period of Friday, January 1, to Sunday, January 10, 2010, inclusively, as non-working public holidays throughout Kyrgyzstan.
05 Sep 2009 (The Times Of Central Asia-Bishkek) Kyrgyzstan's Prime Minister, Igor Chudinov, has signed a decree declaring the dates of the upcoming Orozo Ait (End of Ramadan) and Kurman Ait (Feast of Sacrifice) public holidays, which shall be observed on Sunday, September 20 and Friday, November 27, 2009, respectively.
05 Aug 2009 (The Times of Central Asia-Bishkek) Kyrgyzstan’s Spiritual Department of Muslims has approved the dates for the month of Ramadan in 2009, which will begin on Friday, August 21, 2009, and will finish on Saturday, September 19, 2009.
01 Jul 2009 (News Agency AKIpress-Bishkek) Earlier today, Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Culture and Information, Sultan Raev, told reporters that Kyrgyzstan is likely to have a new public holiday, the Day of National Heritage, beginning next year.
27 Apr 2009 (Kyrgyz National News Agency-KABAR) Earlier today, the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Igor Chudinov, signed a governmental resolution declaring Monday, May 4, 2009, as a one-off non-working bridge public holiday (Tuesday, May 5, 2009, is already an annual public holiday).
16 Mar 2009 (Kyrgyz National News Agency-Bishkek) Earlier today, Kyrgyzstan's labor and social development ministry issued a statement announcing that, as per article 113 of the Labour Code of Kyrgyzstan, Monday, March 23, 2009, would be a regular working day.
19 Dec 2008 (AKI Press-Bishkek) Kyrgyzstan's Prime Minister, Igor Chudinov, has signed an executive order declaring the period from January 1 to January 7, 2009, as non-working nationwide public holidays in Kyrgyzstan.
26 Nov 2008 (CA News-Bishkek) Kyrgyzstan's Prime Minister, Igor Chudinov, announced that Kyrgyzstan would mark the Kurman Ait public holiday on Monday, December 8, 2008.

Governing Law: Official public holidays in Kyrgyztan are regulated by the Article 155 of the 2004 Labour Code of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan which replaced the 1997 consolidated Labour Code. Section 166 of the 1997 Labour code was amended in 2002 by the Act No. 2 of 5 January 2002 to amend and supplement the Labour Code (Text No. 7) and the Act No. 3 of 8 January 2002 to supplement the Labour Code (Text No. 8) which are both still in effect.
Weekend Public Holidays are regulated by paragraph 2 of article 115 of the 2004 Labour Code.
Bridge Public Holidays: paragraph 3 of article 115 of the 2004 Labour Code specifies that The government of the Kyrgyz Republic may transfer weekends [to] other days for [the] rational use of weekends and non-working holidays.
November 7th is the public holiday that marks the day of the Great October Revolution back in 1917 when the tsarist regime in Russian Empire was replaced by the Bolsheviks.
Homeland Defenders' Day (February 23) was reinstated as a replacement for the soviet times' Army Day in 2003, but it was removed from the list of official public holidays in 2004, before being reinstated, without much fanfare, in 2008.

Muslim Holidays : Muslim bank holidays, legal holidays and public holidays for Kyrgyzstan were evaluated using the Umm al-Qura Calendar of Saudi Arabia which is used in Saudi Arabia and in most of the Persian Gulf States. Holidays may occur a day later in countries outside the Gulf region. The sunrises, sunsets, moon phases, moonrises and moonsets used in these calculations are based on the location of Mecca (latitude 21.42°N, longitude, 39.82°E, GMT+3 hours, no summer time rules).
