02 Feb 2012 (Presidency Office-Freetown) The Government of Sierra Leone has announced that the date of the upcoming non-working public holiday for the Milad An-Nabi (Prophet's Birthday) would be Saturday, February 4, 2012.
09 Nov 2011 (State House Press Secretariat-Freetown) Sierra Leone's Acting Minister of Information and Communications, Sheka Tarawalie, has issued a statement ruling-out the rumours that Friday, November 11, 2011, would soon be declared a one-off non-working public holiday in Sierra Leone.
03 Nov 2011 (Presidency Office-Freetown) The Office of the President of Sierra Leone has announced that the upcoming Eid-Ul-Adah and related non-working public holiday would fall on Sunday, November 6, 2011.
30 Mar 2011 (Sierra Express Media-Freetown) The President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma, has announced that as from next year, International Women’s Day, on March 8, will be recognized as a public holiday throughout Sierra Leone.
08 Sep 2010 (Sierra Express Media-Freetown) The Office of the President of Sierra Leone has declared Friday, September 10, 2010, as a national public holiday to mark the end of the month of Ramadan.
12 Feb 2010 (State House Press Secretariat-Freetown) The President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma, has declared that the upcoming, February 18, Armed Forces Day, would be a one-off non-working public holiday.
19 Sep 2009 (Office of the Vice President-Freetown) The Office of the Vice President of Sierra Leone has just issued a press release announcing that the Pray Day (End of Ramadan) public holiday's date had been changed to tomorrow, Sunday, September 20th, 2009.
17 Sep 2009 (Presidency Office-Freetown) The Office of the President of Sierra Leone has announced that the feast of Eid-Ul-Fitri (Pray Day) will be observed on Monday, September 21st, 2009, and has thus declared Monday, September 21st, 2009, an official public holiday in Sierra Leone.
07 Jan 2009 (African Press Agency-Freetown) Sierra Leone's national coordinator of the Coalition des organisations de la société civile, Charles Mambu, has indicated that he would soon re-iterate its call for the government of Sierra Leone to declare January 6 an annual commemorative public holiday.
15 Nov 2007 (SABC) Today was declared a public holiday in Sierra Leone on the occasion of the inauguration of President Ernest Bai Koroma. Koroma, the leader of the All People's Congress (APC) and who was minority leader in parliament prior to becoming President in last September's elections.
