Background Information

Weekend Public Holidays: Public holidays that occur on a weekend remain on that date (ie. they are not moved to another date, such as the following Monday, for example).  Whitsunday (Pentecost) is an official non-working public holiday in Slovenia, but this has no real effect as Sundays are non-working days anyways. In addition, the following day, Whitmonday is not a public holiday in Slovenia.  There are three working holidays on which there are commemorations, but the public does not get a day off work: • Day of Slovenes in Prekmurje Incorporated into the Mother Nation (August 17th), • Day of Restoration of the Primorska Region to the Motherland (September 15th), and • Rudolf Maister Day (November 23rd).  Slovenia International Codes SI and SVN (2 and 3-letter ISO3166 codes) and .si (ICANN national top-level internet domain). • Other Sources of Information The following specialized websites are also a good source of Slovenia information and news: Bank of Slovenia (Slovenia central bank), UnitedHealthcare Global (security-related world events: terrorist threats, political strife, strikes, criminal activity, aviation incidents and health outbreaks), CIA World Factbook (Slovenia maps, demographics and economic statistics), the IFES (information covering upcoming elections, referenda, electoral structures and voter participation in Slovenia), and Wikipedia (includes Slovenia commemorative dates that are not necessarily public holidays).
