The US Virgin Islands government annually celebrates this transfer of territory ownership in the form of an official holiday known as Transfer Day. • St. Thomas, St. Croix, and St. John are the 3 main islands that make up the United States Virgin Islands. • Each of the Virgin Islands has its own carnival-type celebration and they are usually local holidays. St. Croix has its Christmas Festival around January 6th.
