UAE Changes Weekends To Friday-Saturday Weekend days were previously Thursdays and Fridays, but the recent Cabinet decree No.21/2006 has changed the weekend days to Fridays and Saturdays instead, as of Friday September 1st, 2006. Latvia Law To Change Calendar Of Public Holidays (Source: Baltic Times) On May 25, the Latvian parliament in the second reading has passed amendments that will make August 15 a new public holiday in Latvia. Uganda Declares May 12 Inauguration Public Holiday (Source: New Vision-Kampala) Uganda's State Minister for Public Service, Patrick Okumu Ringa, announced yesterday that Friday, May 12, 2006, would be a one-off public holiday in Uganda to commemorate President Yoweri Museveni's swearing-in for his third five-year term.
