El Salvador's Legislative Assembly approved the "Reformas a la Ley de Asuetos, Vacaciones y Licencias de los Empleados Públicos", an amendment to the Labour Code that removes 3 public sector holidays from El Salvador's official list of public holidays.
The 3 cancelled public sector holidays, by a vote of 50 to 34, are: Día del Maestro (June 22), Día de la Raza (October 12), and the public holiday for the Primer Grito de Independencia (November 5).
June 22 will remain, however, a holiday, but only for teachers (and also, presumably, students).
Note that the January 16 (Día de la Paz) public holiday, which was instituted by the Legislative Decrees 139 of January 10, 1992 and 685 of October 28, 1993, was cancelled last year (or rather it became an unpaid celebratory day).
