Hong Kong's appointed Chief Executive, Tung Chee Hwa, has declared a 5-day public holiday from Saturday, June 28, 1997, until Wednesday, July 2, 1997, inclusively, to celebrate the absorbtion of Hong Kong as a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.
This extends the 2-day public holidays that had been announced in March of last year (24-Mar-1996) and drafted into legislation last month (06-May-1997).
