Kenyan Electoral Commission chairman, Samuel Kivuitu, has confirmed that the Kenyan government had declared Tuesday, December 30, 1997, a one-off public holiday, following the Commission's extension of polling for a day at several stations.
The first day of the polls, today, were gazetted as a public holiday, earlier this month (15-Dec-1997).
