Over the past weekend, China's State Council officialized its plan to create 3, weeklong, public holidays, around the current Lunar New Year, May Day, and National Day, public holidays.
The change takes effect immediately, meaning that the upcoming National Day public holidays will extend for 7 days, from October 1, to October 7, 1999, inclusively.
Some of the extra public holidays stemming from the aforementioned change will be offset by declaring the days of the nearest weekends as regular working days, maning that the net effect of this change is that the number of Chinese public holidays will increase from 7 to 10.
