South Korea has ordered its banks and financial institutions to close for four days over New Year to guard against possible Y2K issues. Two additional bank holidays will be added, on December 31, 1999, and on January 3, 2000.
All bank operations, including transactions at teller windows, electronic financial trading, deposits and withdrawals through automated teller machines, will be totally stopped between December 31, 1999, and January 3rd, 2000. Other businesses and government departments will, however, be open for business on these 2 dates.
