Paraguay Makes September 29 An Annual Public Holiday

(Posted on Thursday, September 28, 2000)

Source: Paraguay Registro Oficial

Paraguay's Lower House approved, in extremis, the Senate bill (Law 1601/00) that makes September 29 (Battle of Boquerón Day) an annual public holiday, starting in 2000.

The date of September 29 had been a public holiday since 1995, when law 715/95 (Que Amplia La Ley Nº 08/90, Por La Cual Se Determinan Los Feriados De La República) had declared that September 29 would be a public holiday for a period of 5 years (incluyendo el 29 de setiembre entre los feriados de la República, por el plazo de cinco años).
