Argentina's central bank (Banco Central de la República Argentina, BCRA) has announced that yesterday's bank and financial holiday would be extended to one more day, on Monday, December 24, 2001.
This was done to alleviate the extreme social tensions and acts of looting that led to the previous bank holiday and the previous president's forced departure from power.
