Argentina Declares October 14 Public Holiday

(Posted on Monday, September 30, 2002)

Source: Boletín Oficial (Buenos Aires)

Argentina's National Assembly has gazetted the Decreto 1932/2002 which makes Monday, October 14, 2002, a day in lieu public holiday in compensation of the fact that the October 12 annual public holiday falls on a Saturday in 2002.

The text of the decree does go to great lengths to specify that this is a one-off event limited to this year (con carácter excepcional para el corriente año), probably to avoid giving the impression that this is to be a yearly event, since there was another "exceptional" moving of the October 12 annual public holiday last year (18-Jul-2001).
