Grenada Announces November 28 Post-Election Public Holiday

Grenada's Prime Minister, Dr Keith Mitchell, has announced a one-off public holiday on Friday, November 28, 2003, the day after the upcoming general elections.

Presumably this is the ruling New National Party's (NNP) cocky way of showing that it is confident of securing a third consecutive term in office. But, even if the opposition wins, it is doubtful that the newly elected government's first move would be to cancel a public holiday.
