Indonesia's Minister for manpower and transmigration, Jacob Nuwawea, has released the official list of Indonesian public holidays for the calendar year 2004.
The announced list of 2004 public holidays also includes the dates of "cuti bersama" (joint holidays), introduced 2 years ago (07-Nov-2002), and which are meant to link public holidays with nearby weekends, to give Indonesians an incentive to travel in Indonesia.
For 2004, the joint holidays are: November 17, 18 , and 19.
Additionally, to maximize the effect of the other public holidays, many of the Muslim and Christian public holidays were moved to the nearest Monday or Friday, as was done unofficially last year (25-Nov-2002). and officially implemented earlier this year (26-Feb-2003).
