Thailand Declares 2-Day APEC Bank Holidays

(Posted on Tuesday, October 7, 2003)

Thailand's Cabinet has announced that it had declared the temporary closing of commercial banks on Monday and Tuesday, October 20 and 21, 2003, during the upcoming summit of Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC).

The decision, based on earlier discussions between Deputy Prime Minister, Wissanu Krea-Ngam, and the Governor of Bank of Thailand, M.R. Pridiyathorn Devakula, follows last summer's decision to award 4 additional non-working public holidays to civil servants (07-Aug-2003 and 11-Aug-2003).
