(Posted on Friday, December 30, 2005)

Earlier today, the Parliament of Azerbaijan approved a law on amendments to the Labour Code.

Under the aforementioned amendments, intiated by the president of Azerbaijan, in the future an additional non-working Monday public holiday will be declared, whenever a public holiday falls on a weekend day.

The aforementioned expansion of non-working public holidays in Azerbaijan follows the 2003 amendment of the Election Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan (27-May-2003) which specifies that the day of elections and referenda in Azerbaijan are non-working public holidays (Voting Day shall not be considered a working day).
