The government of Belize has released its official list of public holidays for the year 2006.
As was done in previous years (01-May-2004), some of the public holidays falling mid-week were moved to the nearest Monday, and some public holidays falling on a Sunday were moved to the following Monday.
However, one of these mid-week public holidays, Baron Bliss Day, appears moved from its historical date of March 9th, to March 10th, which goes against the rules specified in the First and Second Schedules to the Holidays Act, Chapter 289 of the Laws of Belize, Revised Edition 2003.
No public holiday will fall on a Saturday in 2006, so it is not clear what the government's thinking on the matter is (30-Dec-2003).
