French Polynesia's consultative council on new legislation, the CESC, has issued a negative opinion on the proposed change of the June 29 public holiday to the date of November 20.
The opinion is motivated by the fact that the November 20 date is as politically divisive as that of June 29, and that sugar-coating it as the date of the 1989 World Children's Rights Day, is specious.
The proposed changed is codified by the decree n° 2005.6/PR of August 29, 2005.
