Philippines Presidential Press Secretary, Ignacio Bunye, has announced that Monday, June 13, 2005, will remain a regular working day even though June 12, Independence Day, falls on a Sunday this year.
Apparently, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (PGMA) decided to forego her "Holidays Economics" on this occasion, "based on the request of many employers" who had complained about "a string of long weekends in the past" (see 16-May-2005 and 29-Apr-2005, for example).
