Earlier today, President Faure Gnassingbe declared that Monday, October 10, 2005, would be a one-off paid public holiday throughout Togo, to celebrate the national team's qualification for the 2006 World Cup finals.
Earlier that day, the Hawks, Togo's national team, beat Congo 3-2 in their final Group One qualifier, to offer Togo its first-time qualification for football's most prestigious event.
