Bulgaria Declares January 2 Public Holiday

Bulgaria Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ivaylo Kalfin, has announced that January 2, 2007, had been declared as a one-off public holiday, on the occasion of the upcoming accession of Bulgaris to the European Union.

The day will be devoted to celebrating Bulgaria’s EU membership, scheduled to begin January 1 2007, and its public holiday status had been announced at the time of Bulgaria's accession to NATO membership (09-Mar-2004).
