A national holiday marking the unification of Slovenia’s northeasternmost region of Prekmurje with the then-Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, in 1919, was celebrated for the first time in Slovenia, earlier this month on August 17.
Another, similar, national holiday to commemorate the rejoining of the Primorsko region in the west of Slovenia, was declared last year (19-Feb-2005).
