The ACT Government has confirmed Melbourne Cup day will be the public holiday that replaces the union picnic day that was scrapped under the Federal Government's WorkChoices legislation.
Industrial Relations Minister Andrew Barr said he will introduce the legislation in August to make the first Tuesday in November a day off for workers.
