Monday, May 28, 2007, polling day, will be a national holiday with all government, corporate and private establishments closed for the day for the primary round of mock elections.
In addition, the Ministry of Trade and Industry had already issued a notification stating that all shops and businesses should not operate on poll day.
May 27 and 28 have also been declared as dry days and coming to the polling station in a state of inebriation is not allowed, according to election commission officials.
Earlier this month, the Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB), announced that next year's parliamentary elections would occur on a weekday which would be declared as a public holiday (02-May-2007).
