International Women's Day (March 8) is fast becoming an un-official public holiday in Cameroon.
Reports indicate that, yesterday, in public and private establishments, virtually all the female staff and even some of their male colleagues had abandoned their duty posts to attend celebrations marking the 22nd International Women's Day.
In addition, in most schools, classes were suspended. Teachers had asked pupils and students well in advance not to bother to come to school.
