The Chamber of deputies approved the bill to make Monday, September 17, 2007, a one-off public holiday to bridge the gap between the weekend and the annual 2-day Fiesta Patrias of September 18 and 19.
The bill was introduced last month (11-Jul-2007), and as the vote occured on schedule (03-Aug-2007),this means that opposition to the measure is limited.
Ratification by the Senate is scheduled for later this week.
