Equatorial Guinea Amends Official Public Holidays List

Last Friday, Equatorial Guinea's Council of Ministers, with President, Obiang Nguema Mbasogo present, approved the "Decreto por el que se fijan los Días Feriados en la República de Guinea Ecuatorial" which replaces the current official list of public holidays (Calendario Oficial del 19 de Abril de 1989).

Of particular note, the pointed statement that all public holidays in Equatorial Guinea are observed nationally (tienen vigencia sobre todo en el Territorio Nacional).

The decree also states that when a fixed-date public holiday falls on a Sunday, a day in lieu public holiday will be given on the Monday (or next working day).

Finally, the decree emphasizes that the days before a public holiday shall be full working days, and not half-days as was often the case in past years (en las vísperas de dichas fiestas, las jornadas serán de día completo y no como se venía aplicando a media jornada ).
