Kazakhstan Declares August 31 Bridge Public Holiday

(Posted on Monday, August 20, 2007)

Source: Kazakhstan Today

Earlier today, Prime Minister, Karim Massimov, signed a decree making Friday, August 31, 2007, a one-off bridge public holiday (August 30 is Kazakhstan's Constitution Day public holiday).

In compensation, Sunday, September 2, 2007, will be a regular working day, in lieu of the August 31, one-off, public holiday.

The moving of non-working days from the weekend to the Monday or Friday adjoining a fixed-date public holiday has become a regular (27-Feb-2007, 02-Jan-2006, and 27-Sep-2005), but not systematic (25-Aug-2006), feature of the Kazakhstan public holidays calendar.
