Malta's Labour Party has promised that, if elected, public holidays that fall on a weekend would give rise to a day in lieu on the following scheduled working day.
With the next parliamentary elections in April 2008, that would mean that the 2008 Saints Paul and Peter public holiday (locally called L-Imnarja) that falls on a Sunday, would be followed by a day in lieu public holiday on Monday, June 30, 2008.
Days in lieu for Malta public holidays that fall on a weekend were cancelled in early 2005 (15-Jan-2005).
