The government of Sénégal has finally confirmed that the upcoming Tabaski (Feast of Sacrifice) public holiday would be observed on Wednesday, December 19, 2007.
Note, however, that there are still widespread divergences between the various Senegalese Muslim organizations, with the Commission nationale de concertation sur le croissant lunaire (Cncl) calling for Friday, December 21, and the followers of Imam Assane Cissé planning for a celebration on Thursday, December 20.
