The office of President Jose Eduardo dos Santos issued a statement announcing legislative elections, on Friday, September 5, 2008, and subsequently, the Angolan government approved a Law-decree on the observance of a one-off public holiday on September 5, Election Day, in an extraordinary session of the Cabinet Council.
