A new proposed law (6236-D-2008), currently in front of the Senate of Argentina, would make the 5-day indigenous new year (June 20-24) an annual public holiday for all inhabitants of Argentina that are registered in the Registro de Comunidades Indígenas (defined as per law 23.302).
