The press office of the Government of Belize has revised its official list of 2009 public holidays.
In this revision, in contrast to last June's announcement (30-Jun-2008), and as was done in 2008 (04-Jan-2008), the government of Belize has decided to avail itself of the discretionary powers of article 9 of the Belize Holidays Act (2000, revised 2003) to declare a day in lieu public holiday on Monday, December 28, 2009, to compensate for the fact that December 26 is a Saturday in 2009.
Such revisions of the officially announced list of public holidays have occurred in the past in Belize (05-Jul-2006 and 01-Oct-2007).
