Grenada's new Minister of State responsible for Culture, Sen. Hon. Arly Gill, has confirmed that the first Monday in August (Monday August 4th, in 2008) will continue to be an official public holiday, despite his newly-elected government's recent emphasis on August 1st as the proper date of Emancipation day.
