Cabinet Secretary, Joshua Kanganja, announced that acting Zambian president, Rupiah Banda, had declared a public holiday on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, the day on which the late President Levy Mwanawasa is to be interred, and which would have been his 60th birthday.
In addition to this one-off public holiday, which we had forecast last week (24-Aug-2008), President Banda signed a statutory instrument into law Monday making this date an annual public holiday, as a symbol of the significance of Mwanawasa's immense contributions to Zambia.
